Do you know someone on this planet who can manage to destroy a 399€ jewel in less than a hour? Now you do. I just tried to update the BIOS of my new, flaming, MSI Wind U100 Black when I found out power wasn’t plugged. So I thought “what’s the problem, let’s just plug it in”. I wish I had never done that: keyboard suddenly stopped working. I tried rebooting to Windows XP (a pure DOS environment is required for BIOS updates) but, sadly, nothing changed. Keyboard was not working, no keystrokes where detected, I wasn’t even able to get into BIOS, since DEL key wasn’t working as well. But, before getting too despaired, I tried to unplug Wind’s power sources (yes, even the battery!). After a few minutes, I turned it on again and keyboard was working again.

Conoscete qualcuno, su questo pianeta, in grado di distruggere un gioiello da 399€ in meno di un ora? Ok, se non lo conoscevate, ora invece si. Ho provato ad aggiornare il BIOS del mio nuovo, fiammante, MSI Wind U100 Black e mi sono accorto che la corrente era scollegata. Così ho pensato “hey, qual’è il problema, colleghiamola”. Come vorrei non aver dato retta al mio cervello (-_-): la tastiera ha improvvisamente smesso di funzionare. Ho provato ad avviare Windows XP (un ambiente DOS puro è richiesto per fare l’aggiornamento del bios) ma, purtroppo, il problema è rimasto. La tastiera non funzionava, nessun tasto produceva alcun risultato, non ero nemmeno in grado di accedere al BIOS, dato che DEL non fungeva. Fortunatamente, prima di strapparmi i pochi capelli rimasti, ho provato a rimuovere tutte le sorgenti di energia dal Wind (si, anche la batteria!). Dopo alcuni minuti, l’ho acceso e la tastiera ha ripreso a funzionare.
